UAI was founded in 1994 with a vision to develop enterprise software
solutions
for
local, state and federal agencies.
This overall vision was to provide software solutions replacing manual, paper-based business processes to improve daily operations, decision-making and ultimately improving the quality of life for local citizens. UAI successfully realized that vision by providing solutions to more than 125 clients throughout the world. That vision continues today.

UAI, Inc. is headquartered in Huntsville, AL with regional offices in Washington D.C., California, Florida, and Puerto Rico.
The UAI Team
Since its inception, UAI has relied upon a foundation of competent industry professionals to develop and deliver solutions that meet the real-world needs of its end-users. Successful research and development requires that input from industry experts be factored into the overall development effort. Some of those industry leaders are outlined below.
S.K. Chauhan - Chairman and CEO
S.K. Chauhan has served as Chairman and CEO of UAI since 1998. A former consulting engineer, Mr. Chauhan’s experience has been instrumental in molding UAI’s philosophy of developing solutions that meet actual day-to-day needs of personnel. Mr. Chauhan holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer. He has more than 15 years experience in information technology and engineering and was appointed as a technical advisor to the U.S. Department of Energy. As president and CEO, Mr. Chauhan provides UAI’s strategic direction and is actively involved in product development, business development, and financial strategies.
Sunita Chauhan - Executive Vice President
Executive VP Sunita Chauhan has been with UAI since 1994. With 12 years experience in information systems and financial management, she has provided UAI with solid leadership during a time of enormous growth. She holds a B.S. in Information Systems and Accounting and is currently pursuing her MBA.
Renuka Chauhan - Secretary/Treasurer
Renuka Chauhan has been with UAI since 1994 and oversees all administrative functions of the corporation.
Kirk T. Hanlin - VP, Federal Business Unit
Kirk Hanlin joined UAI in January of 2002. Prior to coming to UAI, Mr. Hanlin served in the Executive office of the President of the United States for eight years holding the highest security clearances. During that tenure Mr. Hanlin worked in more than 160 international and 400 domestic cities on behalf of the President. Mr. Hanlin worked daily with Senior White House Staff, Federal, State, and Local governmental agencies, Congressional leaders, and foreign heads of state and their staffs. Stationed in Washington, D.C., Mr. Hanlin heads up UAI’s Federal and International business units.
Peter Díaz - VP, Caribbean Region
Peter Díaz was born in New York in 1969 and has been a resident of Puerto Rico since 1974. Prior to joining UAI as Vice President, Caribbean Region in July of 2003, Mr. Díaz was legal counsel for UAI in Puerto Rico and also business partner of UAI in the Caribbean Operations. Prior to joining UAI, Mr. Díaz was a member of the law firm Woods & Woods, LLC. in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He holds a Juris Doctor from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Law, and B.S. in International Politics. In the Caribbean Region Mr. Díaz also provides direction to UAI's staff of managers and directors in the areas of project delivery, product development and customer support. He was integral in the process of making UAI's applications available in Spanish to serve the Latin American Community in the Caribbean Region.
Sharon Hindman Hester - VP, Business Development and General Counsel
Sharon Hindman Hester serves as General Counsel for UAI as well as Vice President of Business Development. Ms. Hester has a B.S. degree from the University of North Alabama and her Juris Doctorate, from the University of Alabama, School of Law. Her experience as both a District and Circuit Judge for the 34th Judicial Circuit of Alabama brings a unique skill in the development of UAI's Offender Accountability solution. Ms. Hester's general counsel duties for UAI encompass all aspects of legal interaction with clients, investors, financing agencies and others.
Rafael Guzman - VP, Business Development
As Vice President of Business Development, Rafael Guzmán is involved in various public safety business development efforts, including UAI’s uaOneLink. Prior to joining UAI, Mr. Guzmán was responsible for the evaluation, design and implementation of Public Safety Programs and Homeland Security Initiatives. Mr. Guzmán also designed and implemented seminars and programs for State and Local governments, schools and private industry and was an advisor on public safety, security and emergency management issues to foreign governments in the Caribbean.
Rafael Guzmán is the former Executive Director, Puerto Rico State Emergency Management Agency where he was responsible for all emergency operations within the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. In this capacity, Mr. Guzmán managed all federal and state programs and funding for Preparation, Response, Recovery and Mitigation programs. Mr. Guzman has also served as Director of General Security/Ports Authority Police, Puerto Rico Ports Authority (PRPA).
Deepak Wadhwani - VP, Business Development
As Vice President of Business Development of UAI, Deepak Wadhwani is a subject matter expert for wireless technologies and related applications. A prime responsibility in this capacity is to identify and recommend features and functionality for UAI technology to clients to meet their business and technical goals as well as assisting in the design and roadmap for uaOneLink™.
Billy Stephenson - VP, Human Resources
Mr. Stephenson began work with UAI in 1998 after more than 23 years as human resource director for Delphi/Saginaw in Decatur, AL. Mr. Stephenson holds a B.S. in Personnel Administration and has a total of 30 years experience in human resources. As vice president of human resources, Mr. Stephenson is responsible for hiring of all positions, recruitment of top personnel for those positions, coordination of initial training and administration of company policies, benefits and facilities management.
Eugene Pierce - Director, Business Development
Eugene Pierce has worked in offender corrections in excess of 25 years. His expertise in working with various couirt systems including case management, drug testing and monitoring of offenders specifically qualifies him in the development, implementation and training of uaTracker™ Offender Accountability Solution.
